Kitaabo - The Blue City Children's Literature Festival In an increasingly digital world, a group of passionate book-lovers are launching an exciting new venture in the desert city of Jodhpur.
A book festival designed specifically for children.
Founders, Gaurav Jain, Vikas Balia and Ira Sisodia all believe that literature is essential in children’s’ lives, and they want reading to be the way that young imaginations can take wings. They want books and reading to be accessible to children from all walks of life, regardless of their native language, and thus Kitaabo was born. Kitaabo sets out to expose young minds to a world of Hindi, Marwari and English literature, with the target audience being children between the ages of 8-14. According to the festival director, Ira Balia, “It is an opportunity to engage and expose the local children with what is happening outside their small world in this relatively small town. We hope Kitaabo becomes a starting point of discussions on various issues that affect children directly and indirectly through carefully curated interactive sessions. Further, this is a non-profit initiative taken by the Desert Leaf foundation and therefore entry is free for all.”Dates: 19, 20 and 21st December 2018
